About:
This micro-film was born as a spin-off from the documentary "Water Vapor" (port. Vapor d'Água). It tells the story of our friend Andre, who lives with a progressive atypical Parkinsonism and severe mobility challenges. The stairs in his Islington building pose a direct threat to his life.
Filmed in September and October 2024, this project was created to communicate Andre's reality to those in power and to urge for an immediate solution — be it the installation of an external stairlift or a new, accessible home.
Although the film has attracted attention, no tangible results have been achieved. Andre's condition has since worsened, and the risk to his well-being is higher than ever. The urgent need for a solution remains.
NO WORDS
No Words brings to the screen the importance and awareness brought to accessibility. In seeing how Andre’s life is affected by his living conditions it clearly highlights how crucial accessibility is in personal and public spaces. The footage across London and every steps that needs to be taken in the journey is profound; this film is a necessary call to action.
(Big Fridge International Film Festival, 13/02/2026)
"I have reviewed your request and looked at the original building design and due to the staircase configuration of a communal nature this would not be suitable for a stair lift installation."
